Big News?!?!?!?

Welcome to my fabulous new blog! Isnt it B-E-A-Utiful! (In the words of Jim Carey)

I have wanted to do a blog design for a long time, and here it finally is. Oh, I am so excited.

So you remember that blog post about our family going through some ups and downs right now, and I would blog about it as I felt comfortable? Well, now seems like a pretty good time.

One, because I am at a great place in my life right now, and all those downs seem to be a fading distance.

Two, because it is getting hard to blog about life while leaving out such important details about my life.

Three, because I am tired of getting questions about them, so I figured its time to answer.

Four, we have told all our loved ones about our journey, so they all know before all you perfectly wonderful non-family members.

And Five, because my blog title spilled the beans for us.

God ahead....scroll to the top, and take another look....

Yep, thats right, Ellie Kate and Peyton are going to be BIG SISTERS! November 19th to be exact (well, not exact, because we all know how due dates are). While the news came as a bit of a surprise, all the member of this dwelling are over the moon about it.

So come along and join us for this crazy adventure as I attempt to raise three darling children, all under the age of three. Oh boy, here we go again. (or maybe I should say oh girl? since that seems to be our usualness).

Sippy Cup Snob

So way back in my early blogging days, I posted about the savior of all sippy cups? While I am still a big fan of my bright, "spill proof," stainless steel sippy cups, it would seem that someone in our family is not such a big fan. Peyton Lou Who.

How is it possible that two individuals who came from the same womb, originated from the same man and woman be so ghastly different?

Ellie Kate loves her safe sippy. She totes it around, so proud that no one (with the exception of her cousins and good friend Katie), has a sippy cup quite as shnazzy as hers.

Peyton - takes one look at it, and promptly throws it across the floor. Aghast that I would give her something so beneath her.

I think I have discovered the reason. Peyton likes the straw. I mean, she loves them. Every time we go to a restaurant, she looks at my glass of water with its plastic tubed accessory and gets goo-goo eyed. She just wants to drink from a straw!

Now good luck finding a stainless steel straw sippy cup. Let me save you the trouble and tell you it ain't gonna happen. I did, however, find the next best thing.....

Are these not the most adorable sippy cups you have ever seen in your life? They are BPA free and handmade with my children's initials! I mean- TOTALLY CUTE! And the best part of all? Peyton loves them.

Oh the bliss of 10 hours!

Do you remember back in the day, when I posted about what an amazing, easy-going, sleepful child I had?

She slept through the night at three weeks, was a breastfeeding champ, and was content anywhere.

While she still nurses like a pro and is content wherever she scoots herself to, she ceased sleeping through the night at 6 months. I kept telling her, "Baby girl, you can't do this to your mommy. Get me accustom to sleeping 10 hours at night and then BOOM, take it away. Its just not good for mommy's psyche."

She didn't listen.

We tried everything. I would pump and try to to get her to take a bottle AND nurse before she went to bed. We tried new bedtime routines. We bought new blinds for her windows to keep them really dark. And....nothin, notta, zilch.

Until now.

My baby has never liked baby food. I would put a bite in her mouth and she would immediately looks at me with an expression that I swear read, "mom, seriously? Get that disgusting remnant of food out of my face."

So we went to table food. I will admit though, I was lazy about it. I mean, I have two and sometimes three kids at home by myself during the week, and all she really needs is breast milk anyway, right? Well, apparently not.

So this week, I have started consistently feeding her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Her tummy is oh so full to the brim of only the most delectable foods. And she thanks me for it. Ok, so she doesn't say "Thanks, mom," or give me a pat on the back. Nope, she does one even better - she sleeps through the night.

Ahhh, the bliss.

Here is my baby girl eating scrambled eggs and a banana. Yummy. Eat up, munchkin, there is plenty more where that came from...

Haggertons - this one is for you!

As a mom, I pride myself on my granola-esque ways. Trying to feed my kids organic foods as much as possible, limiting their processed food and sugar intake, avoiding mindless television watching, and even cloth diapering. But to the best of my efforts, there is still something standing in the way.

After a very exhausting weekend with little sound sleep, my darling husband came home early so I could enjoy a long, peaceful nap. While I did enjoy a leisurely fulfilling nap, I awoke to the sounds of a gleeing, delightful nine month old.

"awww, that's so sweet" I thought to myself as I pondered my exceptional husband and all his wonderful fathering ways (minus the newborn clothing incident). I can't wait to be with them - I thought to myself.

I slowly made my way out of bed and into the living room, following the sounds of my cooing baby. When I opened the door, I saw just what I had hoped to see - a bouncing baby girl with the full attention of her daddy.

"What have you guys been up to," I asked.

"Oh, nothing, just doing things with daddy."

"That's so sweet - like what?" I replied.

"Well, see for yourself" was his reply.

I knew, right then and there, I was in trouble. What clothes had he dressed her in now. Was her diaper on backwards? Had she been eating dirt? He passed me the camera, and I saw this...

Wondering about the shout-out? That would be to our good friends, JB and Cindy. They are our Whole Foods shopping, midwifery training, detox facilitating, God-fearing, quiverfull undertaking, medical caregivers for our two darling daughters. I am sure they will appreciate this video and its "honesty."

Man, that husband of mind is something special.

Oy with the poodles already.

oh, those silly husbands....

Husbands - can't live with them; can't live without them.

Ok, so I definitely couldn't live without mine, but he sure does do some funny stuff sometimes.

Case in point.....

Today, after a wonderful time at MOPS, I came home to find my darling husband and two precious girls. Ellie Kate was still in her pjs, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Peyton was dressed....and then she turned around and I caught a glimpse of this...

Now I know my baby has some rolls...ahem, I mean some love bumps, and I know the weather is warming up, but don't be fooled - those aren't capris and I don't typically leave Peyton's chubbiness out for display.
Nope, my husband (the one hiding behind) dressed my almost 9 month old child in newborn clothes. Yeah, that's what I said.
Silly boy.
On another note - look what I found when I went to get my once itty bitty baby out of her crib this morning.

She can't possible be old enough to be doing this.

Or this....
Stop talking back to your mama!
Where did I get two such vivacious children...oh yeah, from their daddy.

On the move...

Golly Jeepers, I have a crawler.

Look out world, here I come.

P.S. Will blog about the reason for my absence from the blogosphere in future posts. Its been a quite a couple of weeks around this little dwelling, and all we know is the Lord is doing mighty things in our family and I will share them as we continue to resolve them. God is good and works all things together for good.
